Tea
茶炊 cháchuī — samovar, and drinking “vprikusku”: tea is sipped with jam, a spoon lies nearby, and their own 列巴 lièbā is baked for tea. Where it all came from: per the 《中俄伊犁塔尔巴哈台通商章程》 of 1851, Ili and Tacheng (Chuguchak) were opened to trade with Russia, and the caravan road lay westward — along with goods came both the samovar and the habit of Kyakhta tea, which until then had reached Russia via 恰克图 Qiàtú. In Tacheng and along the Argun this is still the domestic norm: on the shared table sit Kazakh 奶茶, Russian bread with jam, and Uyghur 馕 side by side.
Crown growth
Knee of the samovar pipe: a tin nozzle rising vertically from the crown and bent at a right angle to the side with a short elbow; a folded seam visible along the body, the mouth oval and dented, soot at the cut, tea crumbs on the rim. At 6 mm — a G-shape above the crown: no even single column — the set’s only proper geometric growth belongs to the Dai; differs from the Tatar weight in that there is a solid convex pear without a break, while here it is a hollow pipe with a rectangular bend.
Headwear
Winter hat with earflaps: round sheepskin crown, BOTH ears RAISED upward and tied with laces into a knot above the crown — the knot sits behind the pipe and does not touch it; the fur at the front is trimmed short so it does not get in the eyes. The slit for the pipe is in the front part of the cap top, edged with a leather trim.
Outline at 6 mm. Ears knotted at the top. Smooth crown and two raised flaps pulled together in a knot above the crown: differs from the Kazakhs in the direction of the flaps — there they hang down in three tongues, here they stand up and are tied; differs from the Yi in that nothing protrudes above the brow, all the added height sits ABOVE the crown, not as a slab forward; differs from the Mongols in that there the crown is smooth with pressed sides and the whole vertical is in the scoop, while here a knot of two tied ears sits above the crown; differs from the Oroqen in that BOTH ears are raised and tied to each other, not one; differs from the Daurs in that there is a single apex and no gap in the center.
Clothing
Cloth half-coat over sheepskin, belted with a strap, mittens tucked behind the belt, felt boots.
Palette
Steel-grey cloth, pale sheepskin, darkened brass of the pipe, soot blackness at the mouth, cherry-red jam stain on the saucer.
